Man Dies after Car Crash in St. Petersburg

The man suffered a medical emergency while driving on Gandy Boulevard.

ST. PETERSBURG – A 55-year-old man from Dover, FL, died Monday (June 8) after crashing his car on Gandy Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man’s name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

FHP officials said the man was driving his 2012 Volvo G30 westbound on Gandy east of Fourth Street N  about 9:15 a.m. when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of his car. The car traveled into the center median where it collided with a speed limit sign, then continued across the eastbound lanes of Gandy, spun and struck a second street sign before coming to a rest.
