After you read them, you can keep the books, return them or pass them on.

ST. PETERSBURG — The St. Petersburg Library System is conducting “Libraries Unshelved,” a new initiative to distribute free books at locations throughout the city. Books labeled with the “Libraries Unshelved” logo are free for anyone to take and read and they are now currently available at 10 St. Petersburg Recreation Centers. When finished, books can be returned to the original location, left somewhere else, passed to a friend, or kept.

Library officials said they are giving books away “to share the love of reading with the whole city.” More locations will be added to the free book sites as the program grows.

All books are provided by community donations, which are accepted at all St. Petersburg Library locations. Organizations or businesses wishing to offer these books to the public may contact Angela Falsey at (727) 892-5295.

For more information, visit www.splibraries.org or call the Main Library at (727) 893-7724.
