This unusual arts event melds at least three disciplines and is coming to St. Pete Feb. 24-25.

ST. PETERSBURG — So. What’s an ekphrastik? Here’s a working definition cobbled from a little Internet fishing: Ekphrastik derives from the word ekphrasis and is an adjective referring to a vivid description of a visual work of art.

St. Petersburg’s Fantastic Ekphrastik combines art, theater and literature. It features 16 visual artists’ pieces interpreted by 16 local writers and presented in dramatic readings by local performers.

It takes place Feb. 24-25, 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. both days, at Soft Water Studios, 515 22nd St. S in the Warehouse Arts District. Tickets are $25; check out keepstpetelit.org for details. The 2015 and 2016 shows sold out, so wisdom suggests an early quest for the tickets.
