LARGO – Pinellas County Animal Services brought 15 cats, 22 adult dogs and 14 puppies to the shelter today as a result of an alleged animal abuse case at 4162 13th Ave. N in St. Petersburg. Animal Services responded to the scene to assist the St. Petersburg Police Department. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and SPCA Tampa Bay took the exotic and wildlife species.

The cats and dogs at Animal Services are currently being processed through the medical department, where a veterinary team is triaging and treating the animals. Upon initial evaluation, the cats appear to be in fair condition, and none seem to suffer with severe medical conditions.  Most of the dogs have medical conditions, ranging from mild to severe, showing signs of cruelty and neglect. county officials say. Pinellas County Animal Services is located at 12450 Ulmerton Road. Normal hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, with the adoption center closing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and services include adoptions.
