The city proposes an 1,800-seat grandstand for the Walter Fuller Center.

ST. PETERSBURG – A grandstand seating 1,800 people is planned for the Walter Fuller Baseball Complex. A public meeting at 7:30 p.m. April 23 will give the public a chance to weigh in on the proposal. Director of City Development Joe Zeoli and City Council Chair Charlie Gerdes will be present. The meeting is at the Walter Fuller Center, 7891 26th Ave. N. The plan is of particular interest to the Jungle Terrace Civic Association, where the Fuller center is situated. The proposal calls for a covered seating area, a field box and bleachers,  fan hospitality areas with tables and umbrellas, concession stands, a berm-style festival seating area, an activity area for families and children, a press box, built-in dugouts, new bullpens, a public entry façade and welcome area with enhanced landscaping, a public address system and electronic scoreboard. The facility would be host to international baseball tournaments, college games and local championship games. For information about the Walter Fuller Center, see stpeteparksrec.org.
