Seminole Mayor Wants Your Socks

Socks | Clothing | Tube Socks

The socks will benefit two Seminole charities.

SEMINOLE – Mayor Leslie Waters is collecting socks for the holidays.

It’s all part of Waters’ “Sock It to the Mayor” tube sock drive for the benefit Operation Military Matters and the Interfaith Food Pantry.

Operation Military Matters, which was founded this year by two fifth graders at Seminole Elementary School, needs tube socks for the shoe boxes that are packed for our military men and women.

The Interfaith Food Pantry, with winter approaching, will distribute tube socks to clients in need of food and warm feet.

“The citizens, churches, schools, and civic organizations of Seminole are always generous with their giving. Hopefully we can collect 500 pairs of tube socks. Local retail stores sell for $10 or less a bag of 10 pairs. So 50 bags would be great,” smiled Mayor Leslie Waters, “So sock it to me…but only with socks!”

The “Sock it to the Mayor” campaign will continue until year’s end.

There are drop-off boxes at Seminole City Hall, 9199 113th St. N, for both organizations. City Hall is located next to the Post Office.

Waters can be reached at (727) 391-0204, ext. 102, or lwaters@myseminole.com.
