Two seats are up for grabs on the Seminole City Council. Qualifying kicks off Tuesday (July 28).

SEMINOLE – The time to qualify to run for the Seminole City Council starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday (July 28) and runs through 4 p.m. Aug. 10. Candidates must have been a registered voter in and resident of Seminole for at least one year before qualifying.

Seminole has a council-manager form of government in which a council sets policy and a paid manager runs the daily activities of the city. The seven-member council is responsible for passing a budget, hiring a city manager and a city attorney. The council generally meets at least twice a month. Council members serve three-year terms and earn $8,200 a year. Two of the seats, currently held by Chris Burke and Patricia Plantamura, are up for grabs. The election is Nov. 3.
