Comic Con Lands in Seminole on Saturday

This will be the third annual comic and maker con in Seminole and the largest in Pinellas. It’s free and proceeds from exhibitors will benefit All Children’s Hospital.

SEMINOLE -Fans of fantasy, comics, extraterrestrials and otherworldly creatures will have a chance to enjoy their fantasies at the third annual Pinellas Comic and Maker Con on Saturday (Sept. 10).

It is the biggest comic convention in Pinellas with more than 4,000 attending last year. Fans of comic books, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, costuming, and maker culture will find themselves right at home. PCMCon will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Petersburg College’s Seminole Campus, 9200 113th St. N.

Dozens of local businesses and organizations will have booths to sell fan collectibles, promote their upcoming events, and share their services/resources. The convention is free again this year and will have exhibitors, special guests, costume contests, food trucks, live entertainment, expert presentations on a variety of topics, movies, crafting and maker culture, displays themed around superheroes, sci-fi, anime, emerging technologies, gaming, and collectible toys. There will be exciting activities for people of all ages including costume contests, video and board gaming tournaments hosted by Gamers on the Edge and Serenity Games, with appearances by the Star Wars 501st Legion, the Real Tampa Bay Ghostbusters, Scott Fensterer, the Ken Spivey Band, Ultimate 3D, and many others.

Science and technology geeks will get a look at the library’s Innovation Lab that includes a 3-D printer built locally by FreeFab3D, robots, Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits, virtual reality headsets, electronics kits, a DIY hologram viewer and more that the public can explore throughout the day. Other exhibitors specializing in “all things maker” will be on hand as well.

All exhibitor fees are donated to All Children’s Hospital via Gamers On The Edge.
