Safety Harbor Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

The man lost control of his motorcycle.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Safety Harbor man was critically injured Sunday (Oct. 9) when he crashed after losing control of his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Stephen W. Dortch, 42, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital after the crash. He was not wearing a helmet, FHP troopers said.

The crash happened about 9:06 p.m. when Dortch was driving his 2002 Honda east on State Road 580 approaching Rigsby Lane. As he rounded a curve, he lost control of his motorcycle, which overturned, troopers said.
