Pinellas Park Police Arrest One in Christmas Stabbing

The victim was stabbed when he tried to break up a fight.

PINELLAS PARK – A mobile home resident was stabbed early this morning (Dec. 25) when he tried to break up a fight over an an extension cord.

Pinellas Park police say Alex Ashley, 27, is in the hospital with a stab wound to the upper chest and lower back. The injuries are non-life-threatening, police say.

Charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (knife) was David James Cash, 26, of Sunny Rest Mobile Home Park, 3920 78th Ave. N. #32B., according to police.

The fracas began about 1:25 this morning (Dec. 25). Police said a fight broke out between Cash and another man over the use of an extension power cord that the man had run across to Cash’s residence and was being used to supply power to the residence. Cash became upset when the power cord was removed by the man and started the physical fight in the common roadway of the mobile home park. When Ashley tried to stop the fight, he was stabbed with a 3-inch long paring knife. Upon arrival of police, Cash was located at his residence where he was taken into custody without further incident.
