Drivers can sign up to be organ donors when they renew their licenses.

PINELLAS COUNTY – The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s office helped 7,051 residents register as organ donors in July.

That was 62 percent of all drivers license transactions in Pinellas during July.

Organ donation is a vital service for all communities. Today, more than 5,200 Floridians are waiting for life-saving organ transplants. Many of these individuals may get a second chance at life due to the generosity of those who designate themselves as organ, tissue, and eye donors, according to the Pinellas Tax Collector.

The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s office thanks everyone who says “YES” to becoming an organ donor.

Are you interested in registering as an organ donor? You can sign up the next time you renew your driver’s license or anytime by going to donatelifeflorida.org or by calling Donate Life Florida at 1-877-35-SHARE (1-877-357-4273) and requesting a registry form.
