Pinellas Lights Up the Gardens

Christmas | Holiday Lights | Light Display

The holiday light display in the Florida Botanical Gardens opens tomorrow night (Nov. 27) and runs through Dec. 31.

PINELLAS – The Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation’s annual Holiday Lights in the Gardens event opens at 5:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 27). More than 750,000 brilliant LED lights illuminate pathways and plazas throughout the gardens. Visitors can also enjoy the wide array of seasonal decorations and displays, live holiday-themed entertainment and nightly visits with Santa Claus.

With about 66,000 visitors last year, the holiday event has become a perennial favorite for residents and visitors to the Tampa Bay area.  Every year, new displays delight patrons with fresh concepts and colors to celebrate the season.

The Holiday Lights in the Gardens will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every evening through Dec. 31. A donation of $4 per person,13 years and older, is suggested. Children 12 and under enter free. Refreshments are also available for sale each night and the Foundation will have a Holiday Gift Cart in addition to the specialty items at the Botanical Bounty gift shop.

Other events scheduled during the Holiday Lights include the Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation gift and plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 13 and nightly visits with Santa Claus through Dec. 23.

Parking for the event is free. Visitors with limited mobility can gain easy access to the event by parking at the east entrance of the gardens. Weeknight visitation is encouraged for a more leisurely experience and ample parking. Large groups traveling together by bus or van are encouraged to call ahead to assure accommodation.

The Florida Botanical Gardens is located at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo, with an alternate entrance at 12211 Walsingham Road. The gardens remain open from 7 a.m. until dusk every day, with free admission during daylight hours.
