TB Reporter | Pinellas Trail | Trail Map

The closures are part of a two-mile trail improvement project that will continue through February.

ST. PETERSBURG – As part of a two-mile improvement project, different sections of the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail in St. Petersburg will close at different times to allow for project activities.

The “rolling closures” will occur through February between Fifth Avenue and Ninth Avenue N. The sections of the trail slated for the temporary closures are divided in the following segments:

•    Fifth Avenue to Ninth Avenue N
•    Ninth Avenue to 13th Avenue N
•    13th Avenue to 22nd Avenue N
•    22nd Avenue N to Tyrone Boulevard
•    Tyrone Boulevard to 76th Street N

As crews complete the improvement work on one section of the trail, they will reopen that area. Then the next section will be closed. Closure signs will be posted along the trail section that is under repair. The project involves shoulder improvements and the stabilization of the banks. No vehicular traffic on adjacent roads will be affected. The project is partially funded by a Recreational Trail Program grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

The Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail is a 47-mile linear park and recreation trail extending from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. For information, go to pinellascounty.org.
