Motorcyclist Dies in Pinellas Crash
The motorcycle collided with a van and another vehicle in an intersection.
PINELLAS COUNTY – An Oldsmar man died Monday (Aug. 22) when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a three-car crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Russel Wood, 39, of Oldsmar, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. There were no other injuries, the FHP said.
The crash happened about 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Curlew Road and Countryside Boulevard. The 2006 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle that Mr. Wood was driving east on Curlew entered the intersection where it collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Express van driven by Wesley Burchardt, 58, of Lutz, who was turning left off Curlew. The force of the impact pushed the Suzuki into a 2006 Chrysler 300 being driven on Countryside by Terri Howells, 74, of Clearwater.
