ST. PETERSBURG – A motor scooter driver was critically injured Friday (Dec. 18) night when a tractor-trailer hauling gasoline hit him.

Franklin Thomas Dickerson, 55, of St. Petersburg, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with critical injuries.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol say the accident happened around 9:20 p.m. when the driver of the scooter was headed east in the outside lane of Gandy Boulevard just east of San Marten Boulevard. Troopers say the scooter’s tail light was not functioning. A tractor-trailer hauling gasoline was also headed east on Gandy in the outside lane.
