Watermelon Seed Spitting, Pie Eating in Largo on July 4

The July 4 festivities will end with a fireworks extravaganza.

LARGO – City officials here say they’ll be putting on one of the best firework shows in Pinellas County at their Fourth of July Celebration in Largo Central Park, 101 Third St. SE. The events begin at 6 p.m. Saturday and include food, entertainment and activities for all ages, followed by a spectacular fireworks show starting at about 9:15 p.m. New this year, enjoy a pie-eating contest, watermelon-seed-spitting contest, T-shirt decorating for $5 and inflatable activities with a $10 wristband.

Admission to the event is free, activity wristbands will be available for purchase on-site. For the safety of everyone, no alcohol, coolers, pets, personal fireworks or sparklers are permitted in the park. On-site parking will be available for $5.
