Pasco Crash Kills Pedestrian

The man was a construction worker performing bridge maintenance, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A bridge maintenance worker died Wednesday (May 11) of injuries he received when hit by a car while he was standing by the side of a road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jaime Leyva Prawl, 59, of Largo, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, troopers said. The driver of the car, Kimberleigh Rice, 33, of Tampa, was not injured.

The accident happened around 8:38 a.m. Wednesday (May 11) on County Line Road east of Cypress Creek Road on the I-275 overpass, the FHP said. Mr. Prawl, a construction worker helping with bridge maintenance, was standing on the shoulder of the road. Troopers said the passenger’s side of the 2012 Toyota Prius that Rice was driving hit Mr. Prawl. Charges are pending.
