In one incident, the man tried to make a traffic stop, police say.

LARGO – Police here have accused a Largo man of impersonating a police officer.

Todd Jeffrey Blumencranz, 35, of 601 Rosery Road NE,  was arrested on Saturday (March 19) and again on Sunday (March 20), according to Pinellas County Jail records. Both times he was charged with one count of falsely impersonating an officer. Police also impounded a 2007 Nissan Altima belonging to Blumencranz when they arrested him on Sunday.

Largo police say that on Saturday (March 19), Blumencranz was walking around the Madison Apartment complex where he lives telling residents he worked for the Pinellas County Sheriffs
Office as an undercover narcotics deputy. Blumencranz introduced himself to one resident as “Todd Miller” and pointed to his 2007 silver Nissan Altima and said it was his undercover vehicle.
Blumencranz also questioned the resident about alleged auto burglaries in the area.

The next day, police say Blumencranz tried to conduct a traffic stop on a yellow Ford Mustang vehicle while traveling northbound on U.S. 19 N. The driver of the Mustang initially slowed down to stop, but upon seeing the vehicle was not a marked police cruiser and instead a silver Nissan with a small red flashing light, she drove to a local gas station.

Blumencranz was involved in similar incidents in Clearwater and unincorporated Pinellas in 2014, according to Largo police.
