Bystander Chases, Catches Man Accused of Bank Robbery in Largo area

A second bystander helped hold the suspect until Pinellas deputies arrived.

PINELLAS COUNTY -Sheriff’s detectives say they have arrested a transient who robbed the Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, 10801 Starkey Road, in unincorporated Largo on Friday (May 15) afternoon.

Arrested and charged with one county of unarmed robbery was Michael Jon Neubecker, 32. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail.

Sheriff’s deputies say Neubecker entered the Grow Credit Union around 12:46 p.m. and passed a note to the clerk, demanding money. Neubecker was given an undisclosed amount of money and exited the bank. As he was fleeing, detectives say a bystander chased him down and escorted him back to the bank. When they arrived back to the credit union, another bystander helped detain Neubecker until deputies arrived on scene. The bystanders’ names were not released. For information, see pcsoweb.com.
