The Florida Highway Patrol says alcohol was a factor in the single-car crash.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Three teenagers were injured early today (May 13) after a driver lost control of his car and hit a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Seriously injured were Joseph Albert Cline, 18, of Palm Harbor, the driver; and Brooklyn Kali-Bleu Bridges, 18, of Tarpon Springs, a passenger in the car. Another passenger, Jacob R. Wilson, 18, of Palm Harbor, sustained minor injuries, FHP officials said. All three were taken to Bayfront Medical Center.

FHP troopers said Cline was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima about 12:14 a.m. southbound on Westlake Boulevard south of Nebraska Avenue in the inside lane. He tried to negotiate a curve in the road, but lost control of his car, which spun counter-clockwise into the center median where it collided with a large tree. Troopers said all three had evidence of having drunk alcohol. Charges are pending, they say. For information about the FHP, see flhsmv.gov.
