Gulfport Honors Dr. King with Day of Service

Martin Luther King | Day of Service | Volunteer

The Saturday (Jan. 16) event is designed to “exemplify Dr. King’s challenge to advance social justice opportunities for all people.”

GULFPORT – Every Martin Luther King, Jr., day, Americans across the country come together for a day of service, picking up the baton handed to us by past generations and carrying forward their efforts, according to this city’s officials. On Saturday (Jan. 16), Gulfport residents, businesses and civic organizations will join Americans across the U.S. by stepping up as volunteers during our second annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Day of Service.”

The “Day of Service” will leverage the strength of the Gulfport community through a variety of community service-oriented projects. By joining thousands of Americans, Gulport officials say they “accept and exemplify Dr. King’s challenge to advance social justice opportunities for all people.”
