The Pinellas sheriff said drivers who bought gas at the station should check with their bank to see if there are any unauthorized purchases.

DUNEDIN – A credit card skimmer was found on a Dunedin gas pump, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The skimming device was found at the Mobil Bayshore Breeze Market and Grill gas station on June 21. It was installed on gas pump number six, sometime between late May and June 21, deputies said.  This is the second case where a credit card skimmer was found on a gas pump at the Dunedin Mobil gas station, deputies said. The first incident was reported May 25, 2015.

Credit card skimmers are electric circuits that are illegally placed inside of gas pumps that allow thieves to secretly record customer’s credit or debit card information. Deputies are asking customers who bought gas at the Mobil gas station to check with their financial institutions to see if there are any unauthorized bank transactions. If so, they should notify the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office at (727) 582-6200.
