Driver Loses Control of Car, Hits Prisoner Transport Van, Deputies Say

Pinellas deputies are investigating an accident that happened on a slick roadway Monday (March 23) morning.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies are investigating a Monday (March 23) collision that they say happened when Christy Wilson, 27, of Kenneth City lost control of her 2005 Toyota Camry. Wilson, they say, was driving southbound on 49th Street N when she lost control on the wet roadway, crossed the median and hit the front of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office prisoner transport van head on. Wilson; the van driver, Necia Austin; and a prisoner, Duka Grbavac, who was being transported in the back of the van with her hands cuffed, were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. just north of 110th Avenue N. Deputies say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. They are contining to investigate.
