Driver Dies after Head-On Pinellas Crash

The man crossed into oncoming traffic, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Clearwater man died Monday (Sept. 19) when his car crossed a median into oncoming traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brent L. Touchton, 52, of Clearwater, died of his injuries at Bayfront Medical Center, the FHP said.

The FHP said the crash happened about 9:15 a.m. when Mr. Touchton, who was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Passat south on CR 611, crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes. He collided nearly head-on with a 2014 For SUV driven by Lindsay H. Connors, 31, of Tampa. Mr. Touchton was taken to Bayfront. Connors received minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.
