Deputies arrested 22 suspects racking up 58 total charges during “Operation End of the Roadway” that targeted a group running an illegal drug operation out of two Rodeway Inn hotels in Clearwater, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

CLEARWATER – Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies arrested 22 people and accused them of being part of a drug ring run out of a Clearwater motel.

The arrests came after an investigation, “Operation End of the Roadway,” that started in January and is continuing, deputies said.

The investigation began when narcotics detectives noticed an uptick in calls for service from two Rodeway Inn hotels in Clearwater. During the course of the investigation, detectives say they tracked the drug activity in the hotels located at 16405 U.S. 19 N and 28596 U.S. 19 N in Clearwater. Over the course of about four months, 34 suspects engaged in drug activity with undercover detectives leading to a total of 58 criminal charges, deputies said. The illegal substances that were purchased during the operation included: a .22 caliber revolver, crack cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, LSD, marijuana, morphine, and Xanax totaling about $10,940.

Deputies say there will be more arrests.
