PINELLAS COUNTY – A Clearwater man died after he was hit in two separate accidents Tuesday (June 7) night, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

Joshua Michael Schwartz, 28, of Clearwater, died at Mease Dunedin Hospital of his injuries, the FHP said.

The accidents happened about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday (June 7) on U.S. 19 N near Royal Boulevard. Troopers said Dennis Helgeson, 56, of Clearwater, was driving his 1991 Ford F-150 pickup truck north on U.S. 19. He slowed to turn into a mobile home park and Mr. Schwartz stepped into the path of the Ford. Helgeson stopped and reported the crash as Mr. Schwartz left the scene. Troopers said a short time later, Mr. Schwartz again stepped into the path of a 2014 GLLG bus being driven north on U.S. 19 by Michael Slawski, 60, of Clearwater. Mr. Schwartz was again hit. He was taken to Mease Dunedin where he died. It is unclear if alcohol was involved, troopers said.
