Fifth Person Charged in Slaying of Clearwater Man

Four other suspects were charged last month with first-degree murder in the case, Clearwater police say.

CLEARWATER – A fifth person has been charged in the January slaying of an 82-year-old man at a mobile home park in Clearwater, police say.

A Clearwater Police Department homicide detective testified before a grand jury the week of March 15 related to the slaying of Allen Usher, who lived at Southgate Mobile Home Park, 20000 U.S. 19 N. That grand jury then returned an indictment for first-degree murder against Bianca Spera, 30. Spera already was in custody at Lowell Correctional Institute on unrelated charges.

From her spot behind bars, police say, she was involved in the coordination of the crime. She learned from another inmate at the prison, a former acquaintance of Usher’s, that Usher might be an easy target for a robbery. Police say Spera then told others about it, giving them the victim’s name and address and details of what they could find there. Usher was shot and killed inside his residence Jan. 9.

Four other suspects were charged with first-degree murder in February in the case: Excel Lawson, Alex Richardson, Jonathan Nelson and Gaetano Spera. The four are from Hernando County; Gaetano Spera is the half brother of Bianca Spera.

The investigation continues. For information, see myclearwater.com.
