North Marina | Clearwater | Redevelopment

Plans for the Seminole boat launch and Seminole Street will be presented.

CLEARWATER – The city’s planning and development department invites the public to a presentation of Phase One of the North Marina Master Plan Implementation Strategy.

The community meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 25) at the Francis Wilson Playhouse, 302 Seminole St.

The city’s consultant team, AECOM, will present plans for the Seminole boat launch and Seminole Street.

Plans for the Seminole Boat Launch include adding transient boat slips, improving boat and trailer parking, developing harbor front park area and lighting and landscaping improvements. Plans for Seminole Street include parking reconfiguration and paving of additional parking spaces.

The North Marina Area Master Plan study area covers 64 acres and is bordered by Clearwater Bay to the west, Pinellas Trail to the east, Cedar Street to the north and Eldridge Street to the south. The study area is just north of downtown Clearwater and includes the Seminole Boat Launch, the Francis Wilson Playhouse and North Ward Elementary School.

The North Marina Area Master Plan study area was recommended for redevelopment under the 2015 Urban Land Institute study. The Urban Land Institute, a Washington, DC, nonprofit, brought experts who spent five days in downtown Clearwater, meeting with nearly 100 stakeholders and producing dozens of suggestions to help implement a plan to redevelop Clearwater’s downtown.
