Clearwater police are seeking a woman who took a child along on a shoplifting spree.

CLEARWATER – Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who shoplifted items from a local store while accompanied by a young child. The retail theft occurred about 2 p.m. Sunday (March 1) at  Kmart, 26996 U.S. 19. Clearwater police say the suspect first went to the electronics section and put a Bluetooth wireless speaker, valued at $90, in a bag she had. Then she and the child, estimated to be about 6 years old and perhaps her daughter, went to the toy section. There, she selected a $37 Barbie house and a $25 Barbie doll. The suspect then left the store without paying. The items were dropped in the parking lot after store security personnel attempted to confront her. She left the scene in a gray Saturn sport utility vehicle. Anyone with information on her identity should call the Clearwater police at (727) 562-4242. For information, see myclearwater.com.
