The designation was given by the National Career Academy Coalition.

CLEARWATER – The National Career Academy Coalition has designated Clearwater High School’s Career Academy for International Culture and Commerce as a “Model” academy.

It is “evident that the passion of the school team, coupled with the support of the school administration, and the intense focus of your business community, has created a sustaining program for students, parents and the community,” said Dr. Jay Steele, president of NCAC, in a letter to the Pinellas County School District. Few academies reach model status.

The coalition plans to feature Clearwater High’s academy on the NCAC website and honor the academy at its national conference in November.

The coalition, founded in 1996, with a goal of providing collaborative support and resources for existing and emerging career academies.
