Bicyclist Injured In Crash On Courtney Campbell Causeway in Clearwater

Clearwater police are investigating the truck-bicycle accident that happened Wednesday (March 11).

CLEARWATER – A bicyclist from Clearwater was seriously injured Wednesday (March 11) afternoon in a crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the causeway just east of the small bridge, police say. That’s when the bicyclist, riding on the far right side of the road, was struck by the mirror of a passing pickup. The bicyclist, identified as Michael James Belanger, 32, of Clearwater, was taken to Tampa General Hospital. The driver of the pickup was identified as Bradley Earle Land, 25,  of Largo. He was driving for Concrete Pump Dispatch of Safety Harbor. Westbound lanes were closed for about two hours. Eastbound lanes also were impacted by delays for some time.
