Pedestrian Dies in Hillsborough Accident

Deputies suspect the woman had been drinking, according to the Hillsborough County sheriff.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Seffner woman died late Saturday (March 12) when she ran into the path of an oncoming SUV, according to the Hillsborough County sheriff.

Dead at the scene was Cynthia McMillan, 44, of Seffner.

Deputies said she was wearing all black clothing when she ran from the west shoulder of Parsons Avenue S into the path of a Jeep Cherokee driven by Selina M. Brunty, 30, of Brandon. Brunty did not see Ms. McMillan until she was directly in front of the Jeep. The front right corner of the Jeep struck her and she was thrown to the east shoulder of Parsons Avenue S. After the impact, deputies said came to a controlled stop in the middle of the roadway. Alcohol is not suspected for the driver; however, alcohol is suspected for Ms. McMillan, deputies said. The accident happened about 11:30 p.m.
