PASCO COUNTY – A Hudson man died Tuesday (Aug. 30) from injuries he received in a traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Richard Bator, 32, of Hudson was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center where he died of his injuries. A second pedestrian, Mitchel Melendy, 29, of Port Richey, was also taken to Bayonet Point with serious injuries, the FHP said.

The crash happened about 10:28 p.m. on New York Avenue near Vine Street. Troopers said Mr. Bator and Melendy were walking west in the road on New York. Both were wearing dark colored clothing and the roadway was dark.

Louis Yager, 25, of New Port Richey was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram west on New York. Yager did not see the two men and hit Mr. Bator, who collided with Melendy. No charges have been filed, troopers said.
