The lake level in the park is dangerously high, Pasco emergency officials say. Officials have other safety warnings in the wake of Hurricane Hermine.

PASCO COUNTY – The county’s emergency management department has closed the Moon Lake Park boat ramp until further notice.

Officials say water has risen to dangerous levels and they are trying to protect homes along the lake.

Pasco County emergency management is seeking damage assessments from citizens and urges caution because of debris. Among the county’s advice:

Emergency management field staff working along the Gulf of Mexico have found debris in the rivers and canals. This debris can be very dangerous to boaters. Boaters are urged to use caution if venturing out this holiday weekend. Hitting debris unexpectedly can cause severe damage to boats and occupants.

Pasco residents and businesses owners are asked, if they see damage or have damage to report it to Pasco County by calling the customer service line today (Sept. 3) at (727) 847-2411 or emailing the location address, damage description and phone number to customerservice@pascocountyfl.net.

Residents living along the Anclote River should anticipate some flooding, especially around Elfers, over the weekend. Residents who live along all Pasco rivers should remain vigilant, especially if afternoon rains develop.

One sandbag location is open at the West Pasco Governent Center on Government Drive in New Port Richey, self-service only.
