Man on Mobility Scooter Dies from Pasco Crash

The man was crossing a street at the time of the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A man riding a motorized mobility scooter died Wednesday (Aug. 24) from injuries received when he was hit by a car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Neville Gibbings, 79, of New Port Richey, died at Northbay Hospital of his injuries, troopers said.

The crash happened about 8:28 p.m. at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Peggy Mac Lane. Mr. Gibbings, who was riding on a motorized mobility scooter, was crossing Massachusetts. Troopers said he traveled into the path of a 2007 Volkswagen Touareg driven by Joseph Frost, 31, of New Port Richey. Mr. Gibbings was taken to Northbay.
