Hermine’s Cost to Pasco: $89 Million

Hermine was one of the costliest disasters to strike Pasco County, officials said.

PASCO COUNTY – Officials here estimate Hurricane Hermine caused about $89 million in damages, making the storm one of the costliest disasters to strike the county.

The estimated damages were released Wednesday (Sept. 7) in a final assessment report that took 350 county employees and volunteers several days to complete.

RESIDENTIAL DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 6), Pasco County emergency management documented 2,672 homes and properties impacted by the storm. Of those, 796 were affected, 1,564 had minor damage, 305 had major damage, and seven were destroyed. Early estimates said nine homes had been destroyed, but the number was decreased to seven after some homes were reassigned to different categories after further evaluation.

BUSINESS DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

Pasco County is urging business owners to complete a business damage assessment survey. The state is gathering information from businesses that may have had damage caused by Hurricane Hermine. The business damage assessment survey is available at flvbeoc.org.
