A car’s driver turned into the path of an oncoming Mack truck.

PASCO COUNTY – Two women died Thursday (Aug. 25) when the car they were in turned into the path of a Mack truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jerilyn Eileen Del Valle, 73, of Dade City, and Linda Gafford Adams, 73, of Brooksville, both died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries.

The crash happened about 9:10 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 98 and Trilby Road. Ms. Del Valle had stopped the 2016 Subaru Outback she was driving at the stop sign on Trilby. She began turning left to go north on 98. Troopers said she turned into the path of a 2009 Mack truck driven by Mark Lieberstein, 24, of Land O’ Lakes.  The truck hit the Subaru, which came to rest on the shoulder of the road. The truck overturned.
