The bicyclist died when he was hit by a tractor-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PASCO COUNTY – A bicyclist died this morning (March 1) when he was struck by a tractor-trailer while turning, the Florida Highway Patrol says.

FHP officials are withholding the identity of the 72-year-old bicyclist until next of kin are notified.

FHP troopers say the man and a 2012 semi-truck driven by Arthur Spencer III, 56, of Spring Hill, were both traveling south on Copeland Drive approaching Chancey Road about 9:10 this morning (March 1). Both turned right at the intersection and the rear of the tractor-trailer hit the bicyclist. The bicyclist died at the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Charges are pending, troopers said.
