The crash happened when one driver lost control on a wet roadway.

PASCO COUNTY – A man died in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday (Dec. 22) when one driver lost control of her pickup truck hit the other car.

Dead at the scene was Michael Hohimer, 36, of Aripeka.

The crash happened during a rainstorm about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 22) on U.S. 19 N at Houston Avenue. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Eleanor Nugent, 56, of New Port Richey, was driving a 2011 Dodge Dakota south on U.S. 19 in the inside lane approaching the intersection of Houston. Mr. Hohimer was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla north on U.S. 19 in the inside lane. He was also approaching the intersection.

Troopers say that, as both vehicles neared the intersection, Nugent lost control and her truck began spinning then crossed a raised median into the path of the Toyota. The Toyota hit the right front side of the Dodge.

Mr. Hohimer was pronounced dead at the scene. Nugent was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with minor injuries. Troopers say charges are pending.
