PACO COUNTY – A Tarpon Springs motorcyclist died as the result of injuries he received in a car crash Friday (April 1) afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Terry Dillard Jr., 24, of Tarpon Springs died at St. Joseph’s Hospital North.

FHP troopers said Jason Lombardi, 27, of Lutz, was driving a 2005 Ford SUV east on Leonard Road at the intersection of U.S. 41 about 6:05 p.m. Friday (April 1). That intersection has a stop sign for vehicles headed east on Leonard, troopers said. The SUV turned north onto U.S. 41 into the path of the 1998 Suzuki motorcycle Mr. Dillard was driving. Mr. Dillard braked and steered to the left but was unable to avoid an accident and hit the SUV, troopers said. Mr. Dillard was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital North where he later died. Lombardi was also taken to St. Joseph’s for minor injuries. Charges are pending, troopers said.
