Christina Tournant, 18, a freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, died Thursday in Florida, according to news reports.

TAMPA – Christina Tournant, a valedictorian and top athlete at Osceola High School in Seminole, died at home in Tampa on Thursday night, according to press reports. Ms. Tournant was a freshman majoring in biomedical engineering who was was active on the MIT women’s swimming and diving team. The cause of death is unknown, but press reports say she was on voluntary medical leave at the time of her death and that the cause might have been suicide.
