ST. PETERSBURG — A 10-screen movie theater is expected to open at Tyrone Square Mall next month, ending a nine-year movie drought at the mall.

Cobb Tyrone Luxury 10 Theatre will have 1,200 seats and a bar-and-dining area seating 100. Cobbster’s Kitchen and Bar will offer handmade pizza along with other menu items and more typical theatre fare such as popcorn and candy. The bar will have a large wine and beer selection, with the beer both bottled and on tap. The drinks can enjoyed in the dining room or taken into the theatre.

“Cobb Luxury 10 will fit seamlessly with our center’s dynamic lineup of retailers as it offers guests a sophisticated movie experience,” said Shannon Brzuchalski, marketing director for Tyrone Square Mall.

The 50,000-square foot theatre will be in the mall’s northwest parking area facing Tyrone Boulevard.

AMC closed its six-theatre operation in January 2007 after having been in operation since 1972. An Old Navy department store filled the space.
