Motorcyclist Dies in Pinellas Crash

The other driver failed to yield the right of way, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A motorcycle driver from Hudson died Friday (May 27) afternoon when his bike was hit by an SUV, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Carl Edward Castleberry, 59, died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the other vehicle, John W. Kennan, 46, also of Hudson, received minor injuries.

Troopers said the accident happened about 5:35 p.m. on U.S. 19 N and Estancia Road. Mr. Castleberry was driving his 2006 Honda motorcycle north on U.S. 19. A 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by John. W. Kennan, 46, also of Hudson was traveling south on U.S. 19. Kennan turned east onto Estancia but failed to yield the right of way to Mr. Castleberry, troopers said. The Jeep hit the motorcycle. The Jeep overturned. The motorcycle came to rest on U.S. 19.
