Motorcyclist Dies in Hillsborough Crash

He was thrown from his bike, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Ruskin man died Tuesday (Oct. 25) evening when he was thrown from his motorcycle during a traffic collision, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon Douglas Collett, 25, died at the scene, deputies said.

The crash happened about 6:50 pm. Mr. Collett was driving a Honda motorcycle eastbound on Boyette Road at approximately 70 mph. deputies said. He drove in between two vehicles as he was approaching the intersection of Balm Riverview Road.

Alisha Rae Gaffney, 36, was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue westbound on Boyette Road attempting to turn left and travel south. Gaffney pulled into the path of the motorcycle and was struck on the passenger side of the Nissan, deputies said. Mr. Collett was thrown from his bike.

Deputies said Gaffney had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her mouth and admitted to having consumed alcohol. Gaffney agreed to a blood draw and may be charged based on the toxicology results. deputies said.
