Motorcyclist Dies in 4-Vehicle Collision in North Pinellas
It is unclear if alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
PINELLAS COUNTY – A 42-year-old Micanopy man died early this morning (May 7) when his motorcycle overturned and was hit by several other vehicles in a crash near Palm Harbor, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers were withholding the man’s name pending notification of next of kin. They said the crash happened about 3:20 a.m. on U.S. 19 near Colonial Boulevard. Troopers said the motorcyclist, on a 2013 Honda, and four other vehicles were traveling north in the center lane of U.S. 19. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, failed to slow and hit the rear of a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by James Eduardo Angulo, 18, of Tarpon Springs.
The motorcycle overturned, troopers said, and was subsequently hit by a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Taylor Scott Reed, 19, of St. Petersburg and a 2014 Jeep driven by Emily Ann Arnold, 25, of Palm Harbor. The motorcyclist died at the scene. No one else was injured, troopers said.
It is unclear if alcohol was a factor. Results of tests on the motorcycle driver are pending, troopers said. No charges have been filed.
