Janet Pierce Hoppe, a former Indian Shores mayor, has died.

INDIAN SHORES – Janet Pierce Hoppe, a former Indian Shores mayor and council  member, died Feb. 3.

The town of Indian Shores issued this statement on Feb. 9:

“Janet Pierce Hoppe, long time Indian Shores resident, town councilor and mayor from March 1988 to March 1990 passed away in Belleair, FL, on Feb. 3, 2015. Janet was born in Tampa and graduated from Ward-Belmont Academy and Florida State University. She moved to Indian Shores in 1960, where she spent many years on the Town Council and served in numerous civic and governmental organizations. Janet loved the beach and her pets. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Pinellas. A private celebration of Janet’s life is planned, but no details are available at this time.”
