Mainsail Art Festival Just Around the Corner

More than 260 artists from all over the nation are expected.
ST. PETERSBURG — The 41st Anniversary Mainsail Art Festival converges on St. Petersburg’s downtown waterfront Vinoy Park, 701 Bayshore Drive NE, this coming weekend (April 16-17.) Admission to the event is free.
There will be art on sale or available for commission in categories including ceramics, fibers, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, oil/acrylic, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood.
The event also offers visual and performing arts along with a “Young at Art” student show and the Junior League’s Kids Create art activity tent. There will be an assortment of culinary arts as well as Mainsail souvenirs.
Now in its 41st year, the Mainsail Art Festival began in 1976 when the city’s Bicentennial Committee, the St. Petersburg Recreation Department and the new Saint Petersburg Arts Commission joined forces to sponsor the “First Annual Saint Petersburg Sidewalk Arts and Colonial Crafts Festival.”

In addition, there will be strolling entertainment throughout the weekend, featuring a minstrel, mime, magician and more.
