Largo Commissioner Resigns

Jamie Robinson says a new job will leave him with little time for his commission job.

LARGO – City commissioner Jamie Robinson has announced his resignation from the Largo City Commission.

The announcement came Tuesday (Jan. 26) in a six-paragraph letter to Mayor Woody Brown and the other commissioners:

“This letter is to notify you that, with a heavy heart, I have decided to resign from my position as a Largo city commissioner.

“Due to a new employment opportunity I have decided to take a position where I will be traveling frequently, and therefore, will be unavailable to fulfill my duties as commissioner.

“This is not a decision I take lightly, but after discussions with my family, we have decided that this is the best route for us at this time.

“Please accept this letter as my official notice. My last day will be Feb. 29, 2016.

“I would like to thank each of you for your help in making the city of Largo, one of the finest cities in Florida. I would especially like to thank [City Clerk] Shirley Frick for all of her wisdom and dedication and helping me to figure out how to do this job.

“Finally, thank you to all of the staff at the city of Largo, for always taking the time out of your busy schedules to answer any questions I might have. You are truly what makes the city of Largo great.”

Robinson was elected to the Largo commission in 2012. He would have been up for re-election this November.
