Largo Chooses New City Manager

Henry Schubert, who has been the city’s assistant manager for about 23 years, will take the job.

LARGO – Commission members here stuck with the familiar when choosing a new city manager.

Henry Schubert will take over when Mac Craig retires at the end of March. The announcement was made today (Feb. 25).

Schubert has worked with the city of Largo since 1980. He has been an assistant city manager since 1993. During that time, he has headed collective bargaining/labor relations, the Office of Management and Budget, the City Clerk’s Office (including municipal elections), Information Technology, the Largo Public Library, Recreation, Parks and Arts, and the Finance Department. He directed the new construction of the Largo Public Library, Highland Recreation Center, Community Center among other capital projects. City officials said theseaccomplishments gained Schubert the trust and respect of residents, employees and elected officials.
