The closure, scheduled for Friday (Feb. 12), is expected to be finished by Tuesday (Feb. 16).

PINELLAS COUNTY – Contractors for Pinellas County will temporarily close the westbound lanes of S.R. 580 fronting Countryside High School from McMullen Booth Road to Landmark Drive on Friday (Feb. 12) to repair a leaking water main.

Crews will excavate a section of S.R. 580 just west of the Charles Avenue parking lot exit to investigate a leaking 48-inch water main and make any necessary repairs.

Some water customers in the immediate vicinity may briefly lose water service during the repair. Pinellas County will notify impacted customers about the timing of any outage.

The work is scheduled to take place over the long weekend as students are out of school for President’s Day on Monday (Feb. 15). The repair is expected to be completed before students return Tuesday (Feb. 16). The contractors will begin staging for the repair during school hours on Friday. Staff and students who drive will be directed to leave the school that afternoon via the Charles Avenue exit for eastbound traffic or to use the parking lot’s western exit for westbound traffic.

If the water main requires more extensive repairs that will take longer than scheduled, a modified traffic pattern will be established along S.R. 580 until the work is finished. If major immediate repairs are required, the work could take several weeks to complete.

Updates about water outages and project status will be posted on the county website, pinellascounty.org. Residents with questions about water service can also call utilities customer service at (727) 464-4000.
